Meet the team
At Taxback Australia, we know what is important to you - our goal is to get the largest possible refund into your hands as quickly as possible. These are the people that will be helping make this happen for you:
Sinead a.k.a. The Master
Title: Team Leader
Sinead fell in love with Sydney when she arrived on a WHV 3 years ago and hasn't been able to leave the place ever since. She's been our team leader since 2005 and knows pretty much all there is to know about all things tax. She also has a habit of getting everyone started on the Bohemian Rhapsody when she's had a few drinks, that and Elton John!
Hometown: Cork, Ireland
Interests: Trying to learn to swim while not getting a starring role in Bondi Rescue, working out how to turn my poor pale skin brown.
I came to Australia because ... I wanted to visit Yabby Creek and the Diner... still working on that one...
Most overused quote: "Come here to me"
Nikki a.k.a. The Apprentice
Title: Taxback Team Member
Nikki chases up your documents from your employers and has the capacity to remember over 200 people's names all at the same time! There is no farmer this side of the equator who hasn't heard the demanding tones of her voice, and she is on such intimate terms with Australia's recruitment agency staff that she knows their birthdays and the names of their children.
Nikki backpacked her way around the usual Oz circuit, eating Super Noodles and drinking Goon before arriving in Sydney and getting a "proper job all grown-up like."
Learning all things tax from the master herself, she is almost ready to lose her apprentice status and become a fully fledged master. She loves a drama, and can often be found flinging bits of paper around and punching the fax machine on a Monday morning.
Hometown: Peterborough, England
Interests: Eating & Drinking Sydney's finest, being more tanned than Sinead.
I came to Australia because ... It's much sunnier and more laid back than England.
Most overused quote: "WOT?"
Ben a.k.a. The Australian
Title: Taxback Team Member
An Aussie on the team, Ben helps put the "Australia" in Tax Back Australia. Ben is an all-rounder, having worked in various roles in the office, and is currently an accounts and admin jockey :-) Having just returned from 2 years in the land of the Samurai, he is also into Sake and karaoke.
Hometown: Right here in Sydney, AUS
Interests: When he is not brewing coffee, you'll find him at the beach, in a kayak, climbing a mountain, sheering sheep, chasing kangaroos, or in the bar.
Most overused quote: "Timmy!!!..."
Elena a.k.a. The Godmother
Title: Taxback Team Member
Elena is in charge of marketing and promotions, making sure the good word gets out! She walks on average 10 million miles a day between Sydney's hostels and backpackers therefore is very slim and toned.
A true Italian at heart, Elena is deeply in touch with her spirituality and can gaze into your soul over a plate of good pasta and a nice chianti.
She is currently studying for her accountancy degree, which obviously doesn't have enough reading involved, as she is often found with her head stuck in some sort of book about something very deep and meaningful!
Hometown: Milan, Italy.
I came to Australia because: I wanted to study and see a bit of the world at the same time!
Most overused quote: Capisci?
Tim a.k.a The Accountant
Title: Tax Accountant, Managing Director
Making all the magic happen on the numbers front, Tim, our resident Accountant, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Licence No. 24581) www.icaa.org.au.
To be accepted into the Institute, Tim completed a three-year B.Com from the University of Qld, a two-year M.Com from the University of NSW, and a gruelling two further years of study with the Institute.
All in all the man is a walking talking tax calculator, and his 32 years of experience will ensure you get your maximum refund.
Hometown: Brisbane, QLD
Interests: When he's not attending Tax seminars, Tim can be found enjoying early morning swims at Manly Life Saving Club and jellybeans (not at the same time).
Tim says: "I love meeting people from all over the world and chatting to them about their experiences in Australia. Seeing their faces light up when told how much tax they will get back is the best part of my job"
