How the process works – claiming taxback for work after June 30th 2011
Worked after June 30th 2011?
The 2012 financial year is from July 1st 2011 to June 30th 2012.
If you have worked in the 2012 financial year, are finished working and plan to leave Australia before 30/6/2012, you can apply for your taxback as soon as you finish working (you don't need to wait until July 2012!!).
What do I need to apply?
When applying you will need:
- Your personal details (including TFN and bank details where you would like your refund to be deposited)
- Employer documents – either a 2012 PAYG payment summary/group certificate OR a 2012 Statement of earnings letter from each of your employers. Please note, the Australian Tax Office cannot accept final payslips for 2012 tax returns.

How can I apply?
You can apply for your taxback either online, over the phone or in person at our Bondi Junction office.
When you apply, we will e-mail you confirmation of receipt of your application together with some documents for you to sign. All you need to do is print off and sign these documents, then scan or e-mail back to us, together with your payment summaries, and we will lodge your return.
How long does it take to receive the refund?
Once the return is lodged, it takes only 4-6 weeks to receive the refund (2012 returns take longer for the ATO to assess and release, as they are a paper return) and we can transfer the money into either an Australian or overseas bank account free of charge!
If you have your documents from your employers, your return is lodged the same day we receive them. If you need us to chase your documents, we begin chasing your pay summaries immediately and lodge your return the same day your employers forward your pay summaries.
Once your payment summaries are received, we prepare the return the same day and you are notified of your refund estimate the following morning, meaning you know exactly how much money you can plan to spend for the rest of your travels.
How am I kept up to date?
Having listened to our clients over the years, we know that being kept informed of the progress of your return is important to you. You want to know how much you will reiceve, and when you will receive it, so you can plan the remainder of your travels in confidence.
To ensure this happens our team will keep you updated via e-mail, we will notify you each step of the way from when we lodge your return to when we are transferring your refund to your account. That way you are constantly informed of the progress of your return and you have someone to contact should you have any queries. Giving you peace of mind.
Chasing lost documents – how long is it going to take?
If you don’t have your documents, we will need to chase them up on your behalf, which will take time. Thankfully we have built up an excellent relationship with employers, farmers and recruitment agencies all over Australia so our turnaround time is quick. And once the pay summary is received, we prepare the return that night and you are notified of your refund estimate the following morning, meaning you know exactly how much money you can plan to spend for the rest of your travels.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the office.
