What is Taxback?
When you live and work in Australia you will be charged quite a lot of tax, anywhere between 13-29% (depending on the type of work you do and how long you spend in the country).
When you get paid, your employer deducts tax from your wages/gross income each week. Your employer forwards that tax to the Australian Tax Office (ATO), and you claim your tax back from the ATO at the end of the financial year (June 30th), or before you leave the country (whichever happens first).
How can I apply for my Taxback?
To claim your Taxback, we prepare and lodge a tax return with the tax office, showing how much you have earned and paid in tax that financial year (July 1st through June 30th). We get this information from either your final payslip or your PAYG (pay as you go) payment summary from your employers.
The ATO uses this information to calculate your refund, and issues the refund to our account in your name. We then transfer that money to your nominated Australian or overseas bank account.
How much money will I receive?
Despite all the rumours out there, exactly how much taxback you receive is dependent on three factors alone:
- the length of time you have spent in the country
- your gross earnings
- the rate of tax you have been paying.
These factors differ from person to person - your refund amount is assessed on an individual basis by the Australian Tax Office, and will be different for everybody.
Will I get the maximum refund?
At Taxback Australia your return is prepared by an experienced chartered accountant, who claims every deduction, work related expense and exemption possible, ensuring you get every cent you are entitled to.
What if I am not due a refund?
Our policy is no refund, no fee – if you do not get a refund, we will not charge you a fee.
At Taxback Australia, we believe in getting you the maximum refund in the shortest time. This is why we only charge one flat fee and lodge your return the same day we get your application.
