At the end of the financial year? When is that? The financial year runs from July 1st through June 30th each year. Therefore, come July 1st each year, we can apply for that previous years taxback (providing you are eligible). Once you apply for that previous years taxback, you are automatically eligible for taxback the following financial year, with no conditions.

I hear so many different rumours, what percentage of the tax I have paid can I expect to receive back? That is dependant on a number of factors, the amount of time you have spent in the country, your gross earnings and the rate of tax you have been paying. So each return is assessed on a case by case basis by the ATO and everyone’s situation is different. Call us today for a refund estimate or some useful tips on maximizing your refund.

What is a PAYG/Group Cert? A PAYG Payment Summary is an official tax document that you receive from your employer, stating your gross earnings and tax paid in a particular tax year. Employers are required to mail these to all employees in July each year or when an employee finishes work. We recommend you request your payment summary when you finish working with each employer. We will then use these payment summaries when submitting your tax return.

I don’t have my PAYGs, I have my final payslip though? For an end of financial year return, yes we can use your final payslip from your employer, providing it is your final payslip from that employer for that financial year, and it shows your year-to-date gross earnings and tax paid.
